Wrapping up Month #1

This past week was a relatively slow week here at the offices. I worked on my daily tasks via Hubspot. Here I work on smaller assignments such as manually updating Hubspot to Sync with our software, setting personas of new clients, looking over churn risks, etc. And I am now connecting with clients, answering any chats that come into the support box, and answering any questions called into the support team. Additionally, I was assigned a new daily task working with the Client List last week. The client list is a massive spreadsheet where we track every client we have ever had, and we track our current clients (deciding if they are high-risk, or low-risk, and updated monthly and annual payments). This is an extremely important project that our CEO oversees daily – as it projects the revenue of the company for up to 5 years.

Creatively, I created several email header graphics to be sent out to the Marketing email groups this next week. These are all from scratch and often have to incorporate our logo and our partner’s or sponsors’ logos. I was also assigned an Instagram takeover we are collaborating with another company on. At the beginning of March I will be hosting a takeover (meaning lots of pre-made content) of “Seed Your Future”s Instagram. We are creating office tours, hosting interviews with all employees, and even giving a tour of the new Stetson and Details Centurion Sales office space. So this job is rather large, in terms of spreading out the work over this next month to have submitted one week ahead of the takeover. I also am overseeing the more organic content for our social media currently, and am constantly creating in-the-moment ideas!

In the next week, I look forward to learning the new projects I will be assigned, researching trends, working more with SEO, and gaining more knowledge on the marketing workflow of the team!

Fifth Week of Internship

For my fifth week of internship with the Stetson Men’s Basketball team, I primarily focused on creating more imagery that can be used in graphics at a later date. Because of the nature of the posts on the team’s Instagram, it is a good bet to assume that high resolution cutouts of players will be essential in almost every post, so I am continually trying to aid myself by creating a large collection of player cut-outs that I can use at a moments notice. The interaction between me and my boss / supervisor is most often a request to create a post for an event or game with a day or two’s notice, so having high quality images at my disposal will be a huge help for me and the team’ social media presence.

To help myself with my workflow and minimize the time I use inefficiently, I have made good use of https://gohatters.photoshelter.com/search?terms=crowd& to help me have a plethora of really stunning images without having to go to each game and shoot in poor lighting conditions. The Go Hatters photo store is a tremendous tool for me and has been the reason I have been able to make a majority of the graphics I have created with the composition I desired. The in-game shots that I have utilized are a great tool for me, but maybe in the near future I could get back in the gym and record some content for social media from one of the team’s practices like I had done a lot last semester.

Week Three of Internship

This week I finally was able to practice writing captions for the Monday and Friday posts which are Missing Monday and then on Fridays is promoting their podcast. It has been fun being able to think of what would have the information needed for viewers to get a good synopsis of what the podcast is about and what will make people click on the link.

Thankfully my boss is really easy to get in contact with if I have any questions. From last week, I was able to ask her what kind of cover she would want for the instagram reels and if she wanted me to use the same on as TikTok. Link to TikTok site: https://www.tiktok.com/@murdermurdernews

I am still getting the hang of what is the best to have for the caption for the twitter posts regarding the podcasts because you only get 140 characters and I want to make sure I put the right information in the post. We use a website called Buffer when I can pre plan the posts and it is very helpful because she can also see the posts before they go up and if I need to change anything.

Social media and shows: Internship week 4

Me with Ben Nichols, the lead singer of Lucero

The fourth week of my internship was super fun! I was still working on video edits and made some final edits my boss requested I add to the Nickel Creek videos, then I was tasked to make some more videos for Parker Millsap. I was asked to go find some of his older videos and make edits and 30-second clips for reels and TikTok. I was unfamiliar with Parker’s old content so it was cool getting to go through some of his videos and cut these clips. I sent it over to my supervisor and she loved it so it was an easy task. Another huge focus this week was social media. I was given a list of artists and albums to post about for the week and wrote up captions. For the content of the captions I referred to the press releases that are up on our shared drive, I came up with a draft and got it approved by my supervisors. Then we decided that we need to come up with a schedule of post content for the next coming weeks. I made a document with a list of different types of posts we can do spanning a range of artists. The posts consist of album features, singles posts, Reels, tour dates, and positive press pieces. My supervisor made some edits and comments and we are currently working on it still. I also made some more posts for the feed and created the new music Friday posts. I also made some updates to the quick reference guide which tracks our upcoming releases, and we had our weekly team meeting. The week ended on a super cool note. I was given two tickets to see one of our artists Lucero at the social in Orlando. A perk of this internship is if there is a show in the area by one of the artists in our company I can contact my supervisors and see if I can get a spot on the guest list. Lucero has become one of my favorite bands and it was super cool to see a band that is a part of the company live and in person. After the show, I was lucky enough to run into the guitar player and the singer and I introduced myself and told them I intern for Thirty Tigers, they were both super nice and thanked me and sang the company’s praises. Going to live shows is one of my favorite things and it is such a cool experience going as someone who works in the industry and being able to make these connections with people I admire.

Video edits and more: Third week of internship

the week of the 24 was the third week of my internship with thirty tigers. The main focus of the week was to edit videos for the band Nickel Creek. Nickel Creek is an American Bluegrass trio comprised of brother and sister Sara and Sean Watkins and their friend Chris Thile. This week the group announced their first record in nine years titled “Celebrants” which is out in March. With this big comeback, I was tasked with making cuts of their new video for their song “Strangers”. Thirty Tigers is working on making content for their artists that they can share on TikTok and Instagram Reels. A big job of mine is to help edit these existing videos and make them easy to upload to these platforms. My supervisor sent me a file of the video I needed to edit and requested I make a few videos. First I go into the premiere and change the aspect ratio of the video to make it vertical. Then I watch the video and cut it to the thirty seconds that I think will sound and look the best. After that, I add the text. I had to make a video with a text overlay adverting the song, one advertising that it is available on Spotify, and two advertising the album’s preorder. This was the bulk of my work this week and took a few edits and revisions until I got it approved and sent to management. In addition to editing videos we had our weekly team meeting, and I was tasked to make a social media excel sheet tracking artists’ engagements. I also worked on posting for New Music Friday on our story for Instagram and made a few main feed posts highlighting some recent releases.

Scheduling

This week was not particularly busy with my internship. I only went in on Tuesday since Thursday I was volunteering elsewhere. On Tuesday, I sat with Bethany and Eve to review the schedule for the upcoming months. Since there will be a large event in March (the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology Conference – Dr. Wolek, I’m sure you are excited for this!) we rescheduled Bethany’s nature sketch club on that Saturday so she has more time to help out. We will be assisting the center on a few of those days to make sure everything runs smoothly. I then helped Bethany schedule posts on Facebook for events coming up at the center related to art and wellness. I was actually able to show her that instead of putting the link into the caption like she has been doing, there was a way to link the page onto the post itself which also eliminated the need to upload a picture since it allows the user to preview the page right on FB. I finished my time there by helping her find a picture to use for the painting workshop she had the next day with residents of a nursing home. Although it was not as eventful as last week, it was still exciting to be part of the process of marketing and planning events for a nonprofit, which are both such huge parts of running one!

Working Alone For the First Time

Going in chronological order, when I last wrote on here, I had mentioned I had a few days off. Those two days I went to two of the different parks. I had a blast and made a few new friends each of those days. I went with one friend who is very outgoing and she ended up finding random people on the bus who were also in the college program to go to the parks with us. Almost all the friends I have made, other than coworkers, have been found on the bus. CPs are always going to the parks alone and it’s fun to find someone to hang out with and talk too. There are so many different types of people I have meet which has been super interesting! I have started to make a lot of friends with my coworkers as well. I am sad though because most of the friends I have made at work are ending their program in the next two weeks. They are from the groups that started in the fall.

Everyone at my job is so nice and understanding! I have gone out a couple times with some girls after a closing shift to get Wawa which has been really fun. I also went to Animal kingdom one day before work with a friend of a friend which was really exciting. It is so baffling to me that I can just go to the parks before work. Every time I think about it my mind is blown. Like truly, I can go whenever I want. The advice many CPs have given me is to not go everyday because then 1) I’ll be super exhausted and 2) I will get tired of them and I won’t enjoy them as much. So I’ve decided to only go to the parks whenever people invite me or if I really am in the mood to go. I won’t go every single day even though I technically can.

I also started working at a new location!!! For my job we have two locations, our main restaurant and our pool bar. I started at the pool bar around the last week of January. It is definitely my favorite one because it is so easy and fun to work at. They always give us free food there and my leaders are much more relaxed. I feel it is much more of a stress free environment. It has been super slow at the pool bar location but I know it will pick up the hotter it gets outside because more people will be going to the pool. I also had a friend from stetson tell me they were in Orlando and asked if I wanted to hang out. It was perfect because it was my only day off that week so I was able to go out in Orlando with her for the day.

The next day at work I was almost late because the bus was 5 minutes behind schedule. This may not seem like a big deal but I literally had to run from the bus stop to clock in and I made it exactly on time thank goodness but still I was in a rush. I have had a super difficult time with the buses lately. The next day the bus was also running late so I was 1 minute late. Disney takes being late, even if it is just by a minute, as a very big deal. If you are late three times in 30 days you get a half a point. If you get 3 points you get marked down I forget what they call it but if you get 3 of those then you get terminated. The next day was my friends birthday so we went out to Epcot to celebrate with a group of friends. They all had the day off so they all stayed out but I left early. I took the monorail over to Magic Kingdom. I had gotten there about 2 hours early and didn’t want to just wait at the hotel so I went into Magic Kingdom. I saw a parade which was super nice and I should have left it at that. Instead I pushed it and I went on a ride. The line got longer when I was in it or else I probably wouldn’t have gotten on in the first place. I was so sure I was going to make it in perfect timing but I was wrong. It was mostly because I had to monorail back to the resort I work at and my resort is the last stop on the monorail. I ended up being 8 minutes late. I was so disappointed in myself that day. I took full ownership and apologized as it was no one fault other than my own that I was late. They were pretty nice about it but I just felt super bad because I should’ve planned my timing better. If I had just not gotten on the ride I would’ve been on time. That day at work was super hard. It was one of those days where one bad thing after another happens, I messed up about 7 times on small little things but adding them all together made me feel horrible. My leaders were super nice and forgiving but I still felt bad myself. It was my second day ever being completely alone so I wasn’t 100% what I was doing.

The next day I went to Hollywood studios before work with some coworkers who started 15 minutes before me and had a car so I knew I wasn’t going to be late. We had a blast there and we all got out paycheck that morning so we were able to buy food at the parks! Yesterday I just woke up and got ready for work I didn’t do anything before or after. It was a much better day. I got put on my two favorite positions, got an hour break during a 9 hour shift, and I had a really good day overall.

Today is my only day off for the week so my best friend is driving from Stetson to see me! We are going to go out to Orlando and maybe do some shopping. I am very much enjoying my program so far. I have had good days and I have had bad but overall I am very grateful for what experiences I’ve had so far!

Fourth Week of internship

This week of internship for me was back to more of what I am accustomed to. Since the beginning of this year, there is a very notable difference in my workflow and my abilities as I have had more practice in photoshop. There is a plethora of new methods I use that I had never heard of in past years and some that hadn’t even existed yet. This week for my internship I was tasked with making a high quality post for Stetson Men’s Basketball’s Equality and Inclusion Game on Saturday. As of Friday, I have now completed the graphic and submitted it to my supervisor after going back and forth on what components would make the post most successful. After some deliberation, we came to the conclusion that including at least 3 players would make the most sense for the post, and I made sure to include the image of the organization sponsoring the event in the top corner of the post.

Most likely the post will go live either tonight later or during the day of the game. I am very proud of this particular graphic, so I am going to try to share it myself as well as maybe get some of my close friends to maybe comment on it or share it as well. The precision and quality of the graphics I have been working on lately have drastically improved, and I’m very proud of my progress so in the next few week so am going to try to increase the volume of posts I create to help Stetson Men’s Basketball’s social media presence.

First Two Weeks of Internship

The first two weeks of my internship have gone really well, I started a week late due to my advisor got sick so she wanted to wait till she was better for me to start. I was able to make some practice TikTok’s to get an understanding of how she wanted the videos to look like.

Being able to get an understanding of what will get the best results for getting views. Being in charge of posting for FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for a page that has a decent following has been really interesting and seeing what is popular and what isn’t.

The first couple videos I created, didn’t do the best but then I found that the videos have been doing better on Instagram than on TikTok. Being able to choose which story to create a video has allowed me to create something that I am interested in. I can finally say that I am in the swing of knowing what to post on what day and what information to add on the post.

Learning about the world of the music business

During the second week of my remote internship with Thirty Tigers, I learned a lot about how marketing in the music world works and how it is different than the other experiences I have had in marketing and advertising. The main thing I focused on this week was creating material for one of our artists, They are currently gearing up to release a new record he is a folk/Americana artist. Before this week I was unfamiliar with their work but I did learn quite a bit about them. On Tuesday I was invited to join the company-wide meeting to discuss Parker’s new album and how they are planning on marketing and distributing it. During this zoom meeting, I learned a lot. I never really thought about how much work and thought goes into advertising and marketing for a record. In the meeting, the artist’s manager broke down to everyone the theme and vibe of the new album. It was a big theme of environmentalism and nature and then the marketing team all gave suggestions on ways we can promote the record. What really stuck out to me about this meeting is how collaborative the process of album marketing and distribution is. The marketing team came up with so many different ideas to promote this recording including a lot of collaborations with businesses, streaming sites, environmental organizations, and more! It was so interesting to just listen and get an inside scoop on how the industry works. In addition to that I worked on editing serval videos for this artist. I cannot share these at the moment because these songs have not been released yet and I have been asked to keep this information confidential since this record has not been announced yet. In addition to that, I worked on making Instagram story posts for new music Friday, and I started google sheets where I track how certain artists are doing on social media. It was a very interesting week and I learned a whole lot!

Putting your skills to work.
