Creation Station Lab Now Open in Basement of the Library

The Creation Station Lab is now open from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, during the semester when classes are in session.  The Lab features three iMacs with Adobe Creative Cloud software and iMovie.  The Lab has a VHS to DVD converter.  Also, an additional computer with slide digitization software is available for use.

The Creation Station Lab is available for all Stetson students, faculty and staff.  It is located in the basement of the Library, near the Nemec Courtyard entrance.

We’re seeing all our students picking up on the intricacies of laptop and desktop printing and we’re glad to help with the steps involved. We’ll still be there to help guide you but if you want a set of instructions there are two places to look. At each networked library campus computer is a sign with directions on how to print. There is also a guide located here.

Printing can be done from a library or a personal computer. It can be retrieved from any Follow Me Printer within 24 hours.

Visit the Writing Center! Peer tutors can help at any point in your writing process, from brainstorming to revising. Although peer tutors are trained to identify and explain patterns of errors to students, tutors do not write, edit, or grade papers. The peer tutors at the Writing Center can be most helpful if you do the following:

• Formulate: come prepared to the session with specific writing issues to discuss
• Focus: be engaged in the session by playing an active role in discussing your paper with the tutor
• Follow through: take notes during the session and make changes afterward

The Writing Center is located on the first floor of the duPont-Ball Library and is open noon to 10:00 p.m Monday through Thursday, noon to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. We suggest that you make an appointment online 24 hours in advance at http://www.stetson.edu/other/writing-center/. Walk-ins are welcome, but be prepared to wait if we are busy.

Writing Center sessions last about 30–45 minutes. After the session a peer tutor can email your instructor about your visit, if you choose. Email any questions about the Writing Center’s services to [email protected].

As we are gearing up for another year the Innovation Lab wants to make sure you have the confidence to use our technology. Our lab is equipped with 3D printers, a 3D scanner, Cricut cutter, digital sewing machine, soldering station, woodworking station and a vacuum former. If you already know how to operate these machines then all you need to do is sign a waiver to acknowledge that you know our safety guidelines. But if you want to know more about these machines and their potential to benefit your education then sign up for one of the classes and keep in mind seats are limited.

Welcome back Hatters! The library is excited to announce that Café duPont is open for business!

Our Café duPont is a new space developed with you in mind!  Take a look and grab a snack or drink to help fuel your studies.  Please note that library staff do not stock the machines and we do not set the prices.  Any problems or issues with the vending machines should be reported to the front desk and library staff will notify the appropriate vendor.  And, btw, what’s going on with the different carpets?  We are phasing in new carpet throughout the building over time.  We hope to have the main floor completed within the next year.

We will be resuming our regular hours this Saturday, August 20th.

The duPont-Ball Library will be closed Monday, July 4th, 2016.  We will re-open on Tuesday, July 5th for regular hours.

The duPont-Ball Library will be adding a vending area on the main floor. Students have been requesting a vending area for a long time, and we are happy to finally be able to add one. Renovations will begin on Tuesday 24 May. During the renovations, the library at times will be noisy and dusty. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

The duPont-Ball Library has recently added a combo sewing/embroidery machine to the Innovation Lab. It is designed for beginners but is great for all levels.

This is such a nice addition to the space. We welcome you to come in and try it out.
