Library Research Prize Contest Open

The duPont-Ball Library announces the opening of competition for the library’s Evans C. Johnson Research Prize and the R. Neil Scott Research Prize. The contest is sponsored by the library to encourage the thorough, effective, creative and ethical uses of research resources. $200 in prizes may be awarded for each prize.

Both Research Prizes are open to all students who completed a research paper as a first-year student during the last calendar year (Spring, Summer or Fall semesters, 2023).

Complete details and entry information can be found on the Library Research Prize website:  http://www2.stetson.edu/library/resources/research-prize/. The deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 15.

The winner(s) will be recognized by the library and listed in the Academic Honors Convocation program. Winning papers will be featured on the library’s website. Please contact Laura Kirkland at (386) 822-4027 or [email protected] with any questions.

Library Research Prize Competition

The duPont-Ball Library competition for the library’s Evans C. Johnson Research Prize and the R. Neil Scott Research Prize is open for 2022.

To apply:

  1. Fill out the online entry form.
  2. Upload a copy of your paper in Word format.
  3. Deadline for submissions: Friday, March 18 at 4 pm.

Both Research Prizes are open to all students who as a first-year college student completed a research paper during the last calendar year (spring, summer, or fall semesters 2021).

The contest is sponsored by the duPont-Ball Library to encourage the thorough, effective, creative, and ethical uses of research resources. $200 in prizes may be awarded for each prize.

R. Neil Scott Research Prize

The duPont-Ball Library is pleased to announce Austin Hill is the 2020 recipient of the R. Neil Scott Research Prize for his paper, “A Shift Away from Turfgrass Dominated Landscapes Will Improve Bee Health.”  The paper was written for Dr. Sarah Cramer’s FSEM course, The Secret Life of Bees. This prize is awarded to a 2019 first-year student who had the submitted paper that best shows thorough, effective, creative, and ethical uses of the library and research resources. The Scott Prize gives preference to papers dealing with general themes of business or economics.  Congratulations, Austin!

Evans C. Johnson Research Prize

The duPont-Ball Library is pleased to announce Maria Gaglio is the 2020 recipient of the Evans C. Johnson Research Prize for her paper, “Accuracies and Inaccuracies: Analysis of the Portrayal of Schizophrenia in the Major Motion Picture, A Beautiful Mind.”  The paper was written for Dr. Laura Crysel’s FSEM course, Psychology of Popular Fiction. This prize is awarded to a 2019 first-year student who had the submitted paper that best shows thorough, effective, creative, and ethical uses of the library and research resources. Congratulations, Maria!
