As you may be aware, accessing library resources from off-campus has been challenging this semester. In some cases, the library resources were not compatible with new security settings installed on Stetson’s network and users encountered security errors.
The problem was addressed by implementing new software that authenticates users from off-campus. We have tested off-campus access during the past two weeks and we are no longer experiencing security errors.
In order to fully realize the benefits of this solution, you will need to update any bookmarks or saved links you have on your computers. If your saved link contains “proxy.stetson.edu,” you will need to update to a new link by going through the library’s home page.
We understand the frustration and inconvenience you may have experienced this semester when trying to access the library’s resources. Please let us know if you continue to experience problems by emailing [email protected] or calling the on-call librarian at 386-747-9028.
Kopernio is a free browser plugin that works to get you the best PDF copy of open access articles you want to find, on or off campus. Set up a free account with Kopernio to connect to Stetson’s content (instructions here). The plug in stores your Stetson credentials on your personal computer and employs them when you’re doing a literature search. Works with Google Scholar and publisher websites to find freely available and library subscription content. Learn more about it. Questions? Contact Jennifer Corbin, [email protected]
